Key Applications of N-Propyl Bromide (nPB):

• Industrial Cleaning & Degreasing: Used extensively in vapor degreasing, ultrasonic cleaning, and immersion cleaning to remove oil, grease, flux, and contaminants from metal surfaces, electronic components, and precision instruments.
• It is an efficient, non-flammable, non-chlorinated replacement for hazardous solvents like TCE and CFCs in cleaning electronics including PCB and metal parts. It is also used in optical components and medical equipment, including implants such as artificial joints. It is very effective to remove solder flux and other contaminants from circuit boards in aerospace applications and consumer electronics.
• Chemical Synthesis & Intermediates: Functions as an alkylating agent to introduce propyl groups in organic synthesis (nucleophilic substitution, Grignard reactions) for manufacturing pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and specialty chemicals.
• Solvent in Adhesives & Coatings: Acts as a carrier solvent in spray adhesives (aerosol glues) and coatings, notably for bonding foam cushions in furniture or automotive applications.
• Dry Cleaning Solvent: Used as an alternative to perchloroethylene in specialized dry-cleaning machines.
